AWeber and Leadpages (2026): How to Connect Them and When AWeber's Pages Are Enough

Step-by-step setup for sending Leadpages leads to an AWeber list, the fixes for the most common problems, and an honest look at AWeber's own landing pages.

Updated November 7, 2026

Using AWeber and Leadpages together is a common setup: Leadpages hosts the landing pages, pop-ups and alert bars, and AWeber stores the list and sends the emails. Leadpages documents a direct AWeber connection that adds each signup to the list you choose, with up to ten tags per form. AWeber also has its own landing page builder, so the first decision is whether you need both tools at all. This guide covers the setup, the fixes for common problems and that choice. Other connections are listed in the integrations hub.

What the Leadpages AWeber Integration Does

When someone opts in on a connected Leadpages form, Leadpages adds them to the AWeber list you picked and applies any tags you set. Leadpages' help center says the connection works across its pages, sites, pop-ups and alert bars, and its AWeber integration page describes mapping form fields to AWeber subscriber fields and respecting AWeber's double opt-in settings. From there, AWeber takes over: tags and list membership can start an AWeber workflow or autoresponder sequence.

Leadpages is gradually moving to a new integrations dashboard, and AWeber is not among the tools named in that dashboard's help article or on the main integrations page at the time of writing. The AWeber setup is documented for the form widget's integration settings, so if you are on the newer builder and cannot find AWeber, check your Integrations page or contact Leadpages support. The fallback routes are covered further down.

How to Connect Leadpages to AWeber

  1. Open the form's integrations. In the Leadpages editor, open the form (for a two-step opt-in, edit the pop-up that the button opens) and choose Edit Integrations.
  2. Add AWeber. Click Add an Integration, then More Services, and select AWeber. Choose Connect New Account, give the connection a name, sign in with your AWeber username and password, and click Allow Access.
  3. Select the list. Pick the AWeber list subscribers should join from the dropdown. If you need custom fields, select an AWeber sign up form instead (see the next section).
  4. Add tags. Type up to ten tags. Leadpages loads your 500 most recently used AWeber tags for searching, and you can create a new tag by typing it and pressing Enter.
  5. Add fields and set the follow-up action. Add any extra fields, click through to actions, choose the thank-you page visitors should see and save.
  6. Publish and test. Publish the page and submit a test with a personal email address, then check the subscriber, tags and fields in AWeber.

Once connected, the AWeber account stays available for every other form in your Leadpages account, so later pages only need steps 3 to 6.

Custom Fields and First and Last Names

AWeber forms have one name field by default, which is why separate first and last name fields often fail to come through. The fix Leadpages recommends is to create a sign up form in AWeber that is linked to your list and contains every field you want, give it a distinctive name in the form builder's settings step, and save it. You do not need to publish it or choose a design, because only the fields are used. Then select that form in the Leadpages integration. If you have not picked a plan yet, the Leadpages free trial guide explains how the 7-day trial works. If the same lead also goes to a webinar tool, match field names exactly; GoToWebinar, for example, expects First Name and Last Name.

Tags and Source Tracking

Tags are the simplest way to see which page, ad or offer brought each subscriber in. Use a consistent pattern such as the campaign plus the page type, and add a tag per traffic source if you run the same page from several ads. Those tags can then start a specific AWeber workflow, so a webinar signup and an ebook download get different follow-up sequences from one list.

Other Ways to Connect AWeber

  • Zapier: Zapier offers a template that adds new Leadpages form submissions to AWeber as subscribers. Leadpages' Zapier documentation covers its classic form widget, and each form needs its own Zap.
  • Webhooks: Leadpages can post each submission as JSON to a URL you choose, on every plan. Pair it with an automation tool that can add AWeber subscribers.
  • Embedded AWeber form: paste AWeber's form code into an HTML widget. Signups go straight to AWeber, but Leadpages does not count them as conversions.

Leadpages limits active integrations by plan; its pricing page currently lists five on Pro, Business and Grow and ten on Optimize. Details are in the pricing guide, and other email tools are covered in the email, CRM and webinar integrations guide.

Does AWeber Have Landing Pages?

Yes. AWeber's builder lives under the Landing Pages tab. Its documentation describes picking a template from categories such as lead generation, product promotion and event registration, previewing it on desktop and mobile, adjusting colors and fonts in a styles panel, and dragging elements onto the page. The built-in signup form can apply AWeber tags and set its own thank-you page. AWeber also advertises an AI landing page builder that drafts a page from a prompt and lets you edit it conversationally, along with countdown timers and an AI signup form builder.

How to Create a Landing Page with AWeber

  1. Click Landing Pages in the main menu, then Create New Landing Page.
  2. Browse the template categories, preview a design and click Use This Template.
  3. Name the page in the top-left corner and set your brand colors and fonts.
  4. Drag in elements, edit text in place and remove anything you do not need.
  5. Click the form to add fields, change the button text, apply tags and set the thank-you page on the Submission tab.
  6. Publish the page and run a test signup.

Leadpages vs AWeber: Do You Need Both?

AWeber alone can be enough if you run a handful of signup pages, are happy with its templates and want everything on one bill. Adding Leadpages makes sense when landing pages are a main channel: it adds pop-ups and alert bars, Stripe checkouts, an AI page builder and, on higher plans, A/B testing, AI traffic routing and heatmaps, with unlimited traffic and leads on every plan. Keeping pages separate from your email tool also means you can change email providers later without rebuilding pages. The cost is a second subscription, with Leadpages starting at $29 a month; the Leadpages features guide shows what each plan adds. For page structure that works in either tool, see the guide to lead capture pages, and for other page builders that connect to AWeber, see the best landing page builders. If you are also weighing MailerLite, the MailerLite guide covers its free builder.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does AWeber have landing pages?

Yes. AWeber includes a landing page builder with templates, a drag-and-drop editor, an AI landing page builder and signup forms. Its documentation lists one landing page on the free plan, three on Lite and unlimited pages on Plus.

How do I link an AWeber list to a Leadpages form?

Connect your AWeber account in Leadpages, open the form's integration settings, choose AWeber and select the list from the dropdown. You can also pick a specific AWeber sign up form if you need custom fields.

Why is the name field not working with AWeber?

AWeber forms use a single name field by default. If your Leadpages form has separate first and last name fields, create an AWeber sign up form with matching fields, save it and select that form in Leadpages.

Why are my Leadpages subscribers not getting AWeber's confirmation email?

Check the list's confirmed opt-in setting in AWeber, labeled 'Send a confirmation for subscribers added via API'. Also note that AWeber blocks role addresses such as support@ from lists, so test with a personal address.

What is the sequence when using AWeber and Leadpages together?

The visitor submits a Leadpages form, Leadpages adds them to the chosen AWeber list with any tags, Leadpages shows its own thank-you page, and AWeber sends the confirmation (if enabled) and then any follow-up emails or workflow triggered by the list or tags.

Is Leadpages vs AWeber a real choice?

Partly. AWeber is an email platform that also builds landing pages; Leadpages is a dedicated landing page tool that sends leads to an email platform. You still need an email tool with Leadpages, and AWeber is one of the options it connects to.
